‘Baby Boomer’ is a small, sturdy variety, ideal for border plantings, low hedges or as a foreground or mid-ground plant in a landscape. Growing to only 1.5m high, this variety is often planted in rows and trimmed to shape to form a short hedge. However, it can also be used less formally. Treat it as a small shrub and position it among other plants in a mixed garden. Also suitable for topiary in Japanese or English style gardens.
Prune lightly and regularly to encourage dense growth. Untrimmed plants may become leggy and unattractive. Can grow in part shade but will maintain tighter growth and better colour in full sun. Does best in rich, well-drained soil. Won’t tolerate waterlogged soils. Use quality fertilizer such as Troforte or Organic Link several times a year for strong and vigorous growth.
