Add some WOW factor to your home with a Picasso. It is a real standout, just like a Picasso masterpiece!
Spathiphyllum ‘Picasso’ is an uncommon and highly sought after variety of the easy care, much loved and proven houseplant, Peace Lily.
Its unique variegated leaves set it apart from other varieties of Spathiphyllum. Tall white flowers bloom in early Summer. Great as an air purifying plant for indoors.
Our Picasso have been grown from select stock and we now have them growing in healthy numbers.
Caring for your Picasso
Avoid overwatering as it can cause browning of the beautiful variegation.
Use lower nitrogen fertiliser for best colouring. Monthly liquid feeding for best results.
Drench plant occasionally (take out in summer rain) or wipe leaves clean with damp cloth.
Grows best in pots – keep in a well-lit, warm position.
When potting into a larger pot, avoid disrupting the rootball. We recommend using the best quality potting mixes and ferilisers. We can recommend in store.
As with all indoor plants, watch for aphids, mealy bugs, mites, scale, thrips.
Points of note with Picasso
Choosing your Picasso with good strong growth and colour is valuable. Important to note that Picasso variegation can be arbitrary – this may change as it grows. So the current variegation may not replicate into future variegation.
A plant with greener leaves still has the potential of producing good variegation. Likewise, a plant with strong variegation can produce some green leaves.
Remember, green on the leaves is what makes the plant grow. More green on your Picasso, the faster growth. Faster growth can produce strong and therefore more variegated leaves.
Too much variegation is undesirable. Any sucker with all white leaves may perish however they could still grow another leaf with green. Some growers will remove all white suckers so the plant puts energy into better areas.
